And the simplicity in the metaphors and similes this song brought, such as lyrics like “We could let our friends crash in the living room” and “We could let the Christmas light up ‘till January” showcases how Love could be so simple yet so beautiful. The beat drops are the best thing ever happened to this song as when I played it acoustically, I kinda miss the beats, but this song was perfect in every way of playing it. It’s sweet, slow, meaningful in its own way.

Honestly, I can’t wait to see people screaming this song in the next Taylor Swift concert. There’s nothing much to say about this perfection of a masterpiece. The melody was a happy go-around bubblegum pop, basically saying goodbye to dark melody of reputation. Picking up the good off of the old Taylor and step into the new Taylor, who has learned from a lot of experiences. But I like to see it as forgetting her lowest era (but nevertheless her best era), forgetting her mistakes and moving on, forgetting her past. The opening track of Lover became the flipping moment from reputation to Lover era. The performance was released on May 18, 2020.

She performed 8 songs in the show, including the singles off of Lover ME!, Lover, You Need To Calm Down, and The Man. The live concert was held secretly in L'Olympia Theater in Paris on September 2019 with Swifties from 37 countries secretly invited. Lover also have its own live performance movie, City of Lover Concert. Swift’s public interest in political news, after years of “hiding” it from the public. Songs like You Need To Calm Down and Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince showcases Ms. Beside songs about love, like the title track Lover, and about her personal struggle, like the 5th track The Archer, Taylor touched the topic of politics for the first time in her songwriting career. The topics in Taylor’s songwriting also has spread wider than expected after the backlash she recieved during her and Kanye’s phone call convo.
Pink, pastel, pop, bubblegum, love, but also at the same time it felt like flipping throught someone’s personal diary, like the whole Taylor’s discography. Each song in Lover gave away the vibe you felt once looking at the album’s cover art. Far comparison from her 2017’s reputation album, Lover brought back happy dance pop melody she left on reputation. Lover brought “the old Taylor” back from the dead, hopefully not a zombie version of the old Taylor.
